Minion Temporary Facade

1st Prize - Competition

MINION is one of the historic buildings in the center of Athens which was originally a shopping center. After a devastating fire the building was destroyed and abandoned. Through our interventions it regained a new temporary facade. This facade is a blown to scale art piece by renowned Greek artist Yiannis Kottis.

The vibrant painting allows for the once decaying image of the building to be reversed. At 28 meters height and 140 meters perimeter the painting covers 4000 sq.m. and becomes a colourful surprise in the grey dominated urban environment.

Το MINION, ένα από τα πιο ιστορικά κτίρια στο κέντρο της Αθήνας το οποίο λειτουργούσε ως εμπορικό κέντρο. Το κτίριο καταστράφηκε από μια φωτιά και εγκαταλείφθηκε. Το κτίριο αποκτά μια νέα, προσωρινή όψη με το έργο τέχνης του αναγνωρισμένου Έλληνα εικαστικού Γιάννη Κόττη.

Η πολύχρωμη παρέμβαση αναστρέφει την εικόνα παρακμής του κτιρίου. Το εντυπωσιακό πανό, διαστάσεων 140x28 μέτρων που καλύπτει μια επιφάνεια 4.000 τ.μ. συνιστά μία πολύχρωμη έκπληξη απέναντι στο γκρίζο αστικό τοπίο.
